MPI für Physik komplexer Systeme - IMPRS for Quantum Dynamics and Control

The IMPRS for Quantum Dynamics and Control (QDC) is devoted to PhD training for Quantum Science in a broad sense, encompassing the fields of Atomic and Chemical Physics, Condensed Matter, Information Science and Quantum Optics to advance our understanding and controllability of the quantum world. The IMPRS-QDC is hosted by the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems (MPI-PKS) in Dresden and has strong links to the TU Dresden and other institutions in Dresden, as well as in Prague and Wroclaw, attractive academic locations in the close by countries of Czech Republic and Poland.

Working field:

We are looking for highly talented and motivated students from all around the world with interests in studying atomic, molecular or condensed-matter phenomena or materials science.

Requirements:

The standard entrance qualification is a master’s degree (or an equivalent university degree, e.g., German “Diplom”) in physics, chemistry, mathematics, or computer science. A good (written and spoken) command of the English language is required.

What we offer:

The successful candidates will receive a contract that fully covers living expenses. The thesis work, which must be completed in about three years, will be complemented by a semi-structured PhD program. The PhD degree will be conferred by the Technische Universität Dresden or by the home university of the student.
