Technische Universität Berlin, Faculty I – Humanities and Educational Sciences, currently has a vacancy at the Institute of Vocational Education and Work Studies for a

Tenure Track Professorship, remuneration group W2, fixed term 5 years, to be continued as a lifetime professorship, remuneration group W3

in „Vocational Didactics in the field of Mechatronics – Media – Mobility“.

This professorship should be seen in the context of Technische Universität Berlin’s goal to recruit and advance junior scholars in the early stage of their career. The tenure track professorship is limited to five years. A lifelong professorship will be offered conditional upon the fulfillment of the determined evaluation criteria and hiring requirements for a lifelong professorship. Working field:

The field "Vocational Didactics of Mechatronic - Media - Mobility" shall be domain-specific represented
in full width and depth in its research and teaching area. It should represent the teaching degree related bachelor's and master's degree courses in the professional fields of metal-technology, electrical-technology, information-technology, vehicle-technology and media-technology. This includes: curriculum and professional field research, vocational didactic teaching research, action-oriented learning research as well as domain-specific vocational education and training research. The following focal points are to be integrated in relation to the domain-areas of mechatronics, media and mobility: qualification of vocational teachers, vocational education and training for sustainable development, digitization of professional work and education, internationalization of work and vocational education and training as well as gender and diversity covering issues of migration, heterogeneity, inclusion and language education. Lectures have to be conducted primarily in the master’s and bachelor’s teacher training courses in German and English in the assigned professional subjects. Close cooperation with the corresponding subject-specific schools as well as the Berlin vocational secondary school centers that are relevant to the field is expected. A participation in the further development of the teaching-related bachelor's and master's degree by the School of Education at the Technische Universität Berlin (SETUB) is also expected.
Further responsibilities include leadership and management of the work group and its staff, promotion of young scholars, women and social diversity, knowledge technology transfer, internationalization initiatives, gender- and diversity-competent and sustainability-oriented action as well as committee and commission work.

Requirements:

The candidate must fulfill the hiring requirements pursuant to Section 100 ff. Berlin State Higher Education Act. Of particular importance are a university degree in one of the named vocational subjects of an academic teacher training, engineering science or a related subject, a strong aptitude for research demonstrated, as a rule, by the quality of the doctorate/PhD in vocational pedagogy, vocational didactics, engineering science or a similar subject, further research achievements, if possible in vocational didactics in one of the subject areas, teaching skills demonstrated by a teaching portfolio (for further information about the portfolio, see Technische Universität Berlin’s website, https://www.tu.berlin/go209650/) and, if possible, three years of school experience. Relevant teaching experience at vocational schools is an advantage. Furthermore, the successful acquisition and management of third-party funded projects is required.
Technische Universität Berlin expects its professors to have the competence to take responsibility for the management and strategic development of the department and the staff. This includes qualifications or a relevant commitment to promoting junior scholars and women as well as gender and diversity competence in the sense of creating diversity-sensitive working and study conditions. The willingness to participate in academic self-administration is a prerequisite. The content-related impetus in research and teaching should contribute to internationalization and sustainability-oriented action and the ability to do so should be demonstrated. Experience with interdisciplinary cooperation, initiatives in science communication and knowledge or technology transfer are desirable.
