Working field:

The Department of Applied Biochemistry is looking for a new employee for the development of a printed liver model. For this purpose, the bioprinting process is to be optimized. The liver model will consist of different cell types. Hepatocytes will be differentiated from iPSCs, other non-parenchymal cells will be integrated into the model. Various toxins will be tested on the model in collaboration with the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment. Comparisons of sensitivity will be made with literature data from animal experiments.

The employee is expected to work intensively in the junior group of the Einstein Center 3R (EC3R)

Specific tasks are:

  • 3D bioprinting
  • Toxicity tests
  • Physiological investigations of the models (cell viability tests, microscopy, immunohistochemistry, quantitative RT-PCR...)
  • Collaboration in the EC3R network

Further information about the department at:


  • Successfully completed scientific university degree (Master, Diploma or equivalent) in a suitable field (biotechnology, biology, biochemistry)
  • Very good knowledge of the cultivation of eukaryotic cells
  • Knowledge of 3D software (CAD programs) for the design of 3D structures
  • Knowledge of 3D bioprinting
  • Good knowledge of German and/or English is required; the willingness to learn the missing language skills is expected


  • Knowledge of the physiology of the liver
