Research Assistant - salary grade E 13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

subject to the position becoming vacant; part-time employment may be possible

The Chair of Climate Informatics is in close cooperation with the Chair of Data Science at TU Dresden, both headed by Prof. Jakob Runge. The working group develops innovative methods from the fields of causal inference, non-linear dynamics and machine learning to analyse Earth system data. The group works closely with climate scientists and makes an important contribution to climate change research.

Working field:

  • Development of theory and methods on causal inference and machine learning.
  • Efficient implementation of methods in open-source software.
  • Scientific evaluation and publication of results and presentaion at national and international conferences.
  • Establishing and maintenance of co-operations with academic research partners on a national and international level.

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in mathematics, theoretical physics, statistics, or theoretical computer science.
  • Good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills.

Desirable:

  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Creativity and strong motivation to develop new methods for climate science applications.
  • Scientific contributions in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Excellent pogramming skills.
  • High social communication skills.
