Research Assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen - first qualification period (PhD candidate)
part-time employment may be possible
Working field:
Research and teaching tasks in the research group Distributed and Operating Systems. Development of prototypes and experimental evaluation in the areas of distributed systems, parallel and distributed data processing, and cloud computing. Publishing of research results.
Requirements:
- successfully completed academic studies in computer science (Master, Diplom or equivalent)
- good knowledge of distributed systems, parallel and distributed processing, resource management and cloud computing
- experience with scalable data analysis, scheduling, optimization as well as quality of service, fault tolerance and cluster resource management
- very good programming skills in Java / Scala or Python
- experience with machine learning and LLMs
- good understanding of resource management systems such as Kubernetes
- confident use of common tools such as Git, LaTeX and Linux
- sufficient language proficiency to teach classes in German and/or English is expected; willingness to learn either English or German is required
Desirable:
- ability to work independently and scientifically
- experience in teaching and research
- agile project management and iterative software development methodologies
- cluster administration
