Technische Universität Berlin offers an open position:

Research Assistant - salary grade 13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen - 1st qualification period (PhD candidate)

part-time employment may be possible

Working field:

  • Conduct research in the areas of database systems, big data analytics, and data science
  • Further the development of information management theory and algorithms, with respect to parallel and distributed processing systems suitable for complex analysis methods involving large data volumes on heterogeneous processors
  • Perform teaching duties for DIMA courses, such as Informationssysteme und Datenanalyse, Database Technology and Scalable Data Science: Systems and Methods

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in computer science or Business Informatics
  • In-depth knowledge in SQL databases and declarative query processing in the context of data mining In-depth knowledge in programming distributed and parallel databases and data analysis algorithms, as well as experience in open source projects (e.g., software development, GitHub) and associated programming and software development skills (e.g. Java, C/C++, Python)
  • The ability to teach in German and/or in English is required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills

Desirable:

  • Project management knowledge, experience working in teams, and industrial internship experience
