At the Faculty of Architecture, the Institute of Buildings and Design invites applications for the

Chair (W2) of Foundations of Architectural Design

to be filled at the earliest possible date.

As one of the major architecture schools in Germany, the Faculty of Architecture pursues an integrated teaching approach in which the analytical, research-oriented subjects cooperate with the practical planning design subjects across all methods. The location of Dresden and TUD as one of ten universities of excellence in Germany offer the best conditions for this. In line with the TUD's approach of close cooperation with non-university research and cultural institutions (DRESDEN-concept), a highly attractive transdisciplinary scientific network is also available.

Working field:

You (m/f/x) will represent the field of Foundations of Architectural Design with great devotion in research and teaching. The focus of the chair is on teaching the multifaceted and complex spectrum of architectural design in the context of formal, social, typological, ecological, functional and constructive contexts and with the inclusion of analog, digital and future design tools. This examination should take place under the overarching panorama of sustainable and resource-conserving strategies. In teaching, the chair is primarily responsible for the basic courses in the first year of study but will also be involved with project work in higher semesters within the Architecture study program. In addition to existing competencies, the focus will be on the further development of the research area and the establishment of international research collaborations. We expect you to be willing to actively participate in academic self-administration.

Requirements:

We are looking for a personality, characterized by their outstanding architectural work and conceptual thinking at the interfaces to other fields. We expect profound knowledge in the fields of design methodology and building theory as well as outstanding pedagogical qualification. In addition, we explicitly welcome international practical experience since graduation. We would also appreciate your willingness to teach in English and to choose Dresden as your main place of residence. The requirements for appointment, the official duties and the administrative status are governed by §§ 59, 69, 71 of the Act on Higher Education Institutions in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSG) and the Regulations on Duties and Responsibilities of Institutes of Higher Education (HSDAVO).
