The majority of systems and services provided by computer science, electrical engineering, information technology and media technology are ultimately aimed at human users. For the success of such systems and services, it is therefore essential to deal with the users and their behavior during interaction. From this, design principles for human-machine interfaces can be derived and requirements for the technologies on which the system is based can be defined. Conversely, the available technologies also open up new possibilities for interface design, resulting in new forms of interaction.
The Quality and Usability Lab, as a department of Faculty IV, is concerned with the design and evaluation of such human-machine interactions, whereby aspects of human perception, technical systems and the design of the interaction are the subject of our research.
Support in the basic teaching of the subject area in courses in the Bachelor's degree programs in Computer Engineering, Media Informatics and Media Technology, in particular in the integrated course “Digital Systems”, “Introduction to Media Informatics”, “Media Creation Project” and “Interdisciplinary Media Project” by setting up and supervising Exercice and projects. In addition, support in teaching in the Master's area for the degree programs of Faculty IV and the BUA Master's program in Media Informatics.
Empirical research in the field of User Experience & Extended Reality is also part of the range of tasks.
